Client post trade equity allocation automatically generated from client emails at UBS

Following completion of share trades the client will need to have the assets allocated across various funds. Typically they email this through to the UBS team who, historically, then manually allocated the relevant shares. This repetitive task has been replaced by machine reading and data capture on the emails.

Context

Post-trade paperwork is time-consuming and complicated with very little leeway for error given the sums, relationships and legal implications involved.

The Project

Emails flow into an automated process where machine reading is used to extract relevant data. This is then logged on to appropriate back office administrative systems.

Results

Saves time by cutting a task that would normally take a person about 45 minutes to ~2 minutes. Frees staff up for other tasks like calling clients.
